Lease opportunities advertised online

Properties for lease administered by the Māori Trustee are now posted online, and that is just the start of a wider marketing push, says Maori Trustee Business Manager- Property, Brae Watkins.

“We want to make sure that the lease opportunities we are offering get wide exposure so that we are selecting from the best pool of potential lessees.  Getting the right lessee for a block of land is critical for delivering the best sustainable returns for owners – and it’s not just about the financial returns,” he says.  “For some blocks it may be all about the rental, whereas for others it could be about the improvements a lessee will make as part of the lease, or about protecting wāhi tapu – it’s all about the owners long term aspirations for their land.”

Brae says that most people interested in leasing land , now look online, so “we need to be where they are looking.”  As well as posting blocks for lease on the Māori Trustee website, Brae says that early in the New Year his team will be running a focused online advertising campaign to let people know to come to the Māori Trustee for good leasing opportunities.

“With close to 2000 blocks under administration, there are always opportunities coming up.  Making the opportunities easy to find will benefit both potential lessees and the land owners we work for,” he says.
