So that the foundations of ancestral lands may be solid, benefitting Māori from our past, present and future alike. This is Te Tumu Paeroa, guardian, support and advancer of the mana of Māori land everywhere.

Our role is to provide professional trustee services for Māori. We do this by carrying out the terms of trusts and ensuring the whenua is protected and enhanced for future generations.

He angitūtanga: About the Role:

As the Kaitohutohu Tuarā Taiao | Property Advisor, you will be at the forefront of providing property management services to a portfolio of trusts. You will be maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the property affairs of each trust within the portfolio and ensuring high standards of service delivery.

This role requires some travel and occasional weekend work.

The main responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Taking charge of property inspections, rent reviews, advertising, negotiations, breach management, and reporting. Your proactive approach will keep everything running smoothly.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of leases within your portfolio, including market rates for leases, both regionally and nationally.

  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with tenants and key stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

  • Facilitate site access for staff and key stakeholders.

  • Actively working to reduce lease vacancies within your portfolio.

  • Work closely with your team and stakeholders to ensure all whenua and property-related assets are well-maintained. 

  • Providing expert advice and guidance on all lease – related matters within your portfolio.

He kōrero mou: What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience in a property role within a medium to large organisation

  • A friendly and approachable nature, you enjoy being part of a high performing team

  • An ability to build relationships both internally and externally through open and clear communication, both verbal and written

  • Good time management and organisation skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, technically savvy with the confidence to navigate multiple systems

  • A certificate, diploma or degree in Property or Asset Management would be highly regarded as would experience and understanding of the rural sector

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.

Pae Tahi- Te Whakahua | A desire and ability to practise correct pronunciation of Te Reo Māori (essential).

Ngā Pae Mōhiotanga Tikanga Māori
Pae Tahi- Nō Ia Rā | An understanding and living of Tikanga Māori on a day-to-day level, for example, the removing of shoes before entering a whare, washing hands at the urupa and not sitting on tables (essential)

  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand is essential.
