Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Scholarships
Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Scholarships aim to promote higher education among Māori.
Funding for the scholarship comes from Hereheretau Station which is near Wairoa and the major asset of the Māori Soldiers Trust. Te Tumu Paeroa is the organisation that supports the Māori Trustee to administer Hereheretau Station and the scholarships.
What the scholarships are for
Scholarships are available to students studying in any field at any tertiary institution e.g. polytechnic, wananga or university. Scholarships are generally between $1,000 and $3,000.
Who can apply?
This scholarship is open to all Māori but preference is given to descendants of Māori World War I veterans. Māori World War I veterans are Māori who served overseas during World War I as part of the armed forces of the Crown.
