He Aituā Kahurangi June Jackson

The Māori Trustee, Dr Charlotte Severne, and Te Tumu Paeroa are saddened to hear of the passing of respected Māori leader, Kahurangi June Jackson.

He tōtara nui kua hinga, he kapua pouri kua tau mai.

Haere rā e hika, e te Kahurangi, e te Kōkā.

A great tōtara has fallen, a dark cloud has descended.

Farewell oh loved one, Dame, Mother.

The Māori Trustee, Dr Charlotte Severne, and Te Tumu Paeroa acknowledge the passing of Kahurangi Temuranga June Batley Jackson (Ngāti Maniapoto).

Kahurangi June Jackson was a pioneer, and spent much of her life advocating for urban Māori. An amazing wahine, who was well respected not only in her community but throughout tangata whenua.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her whānau Minita Jackson, Vaughan, Rowanne and mokopuna.

Moe mai rā ki e Kahurangi June
